All the discussions seem to focus on which manufacturer makes the most resilient whip.

When I deer hunted with dogs many many years ago, we all had CB radios and no one would consider an antenna without a spring mount.

I am curious why so few seem to use spring mounts? After breaking several flags off, I decided I was done with the traditional mount. I searched and found Firestik made a spring threaded 3/8″-24 and a 5/16 whip also threaded 3/8″-24. I have had no more issues breaking them off.
