I am rebuilding my top end of my 800s. When I took it apart i noticed some small gouges in the mating surface of the block. When I assembled everything, It started dumping coolant into the crankcase. I have pulled it back apart and have a new base gasket being shipped. These gouges were not caused by me but by the previous owner. When I removed the head originally i noticed the old gasket had a paper material around it. My question is would a copper spray over the gasket fix this problem? I know taking it to a machine shop would be the best method but that isn’t an option at this time. Thanks
